Evolution on the Earth seems in an acceleration phase mainly due to the anthropogenic activities. One can cite climate change, landscape evolution, air and water pollution, plastic waste, etc.

These changes are due to the human activities but we (human being) are the most frightened by their future impacts. Fauna and flora are deeply impacted, with loss of thousand of species, but show real capacities for adaptation. Humane societies in the other side prove every day their lack of understanding of the complexity of the worldwide ecosystem and their inability to evolve.

The knowledges necessary to apprehend the complexity of small area in the sea, on the land or in the soil are so large that a human would need several lives to master them. Information system and computation device have progressed a lot during the last two decades. They allow manipulation of large amount of data and very complex simulation in reasonable times.

Daily understanding of Earth systems ask the proper tools and the good data, well sized and retrieved  at the right time. Geophysical system (i.e., ocean, atmosphere, earth’s crust, river, volcano, lagoon, etc.) start to be more and more complex to study due to the changes as the global warming and the human needs.

The solutions can only go through observation and remote sensing helped by numerical simulation and new computation devices.

The Caribbean Geophysical and Numerical Research Group offers solutions of study and understanding of complex system merging network of sensor, numerical simulation and data analysis. We study phenomena of scale from individual house to the Earth passing by small community.

Numerical tools are pushing back every day the boundaries for the possible, please fill free to contact us, the solutions to your problems must already exist….

Commemorative Days for the 20th anniversary of the Les Saintes earthquake

Twenty years after the Saintes earthquake of November 21, 2024, which left one dead, 13 injured, 40 homeless, and above all a large number of disorders on the islands of Saintes, Basse-Terre, and Marie-Galante, looking back on this major event of the last 100 years is important, especially since these disorders are still visible and …
