Building on the experience gained since 2023, the organisers are presenting the fourth edition of “Syans an Kréyol” this year. Despite the challenges encountered, their ambition remains unchanged: to ensure the event’s long-term sustainability, broaden the range of scientific disciplines addressed, and enable an ever-growing Creole-speaking audience to access useful, rigorous, and relevant scientific knowledge adapted to the realities of their environment.
Beyond being simply a scientific event, “Syans an Kréyol” embodies a fundamental conviction: science should be something we can think about, conceive, imagine, dream of, and share in every language.
Following “Natural Risk Reduction “ in 2023, “Rainwater in the Context of Climate Change” in 2024, and “Climate Change” in 2025, the theme for this new edition is:
- “Bad weather”, referring to climate-related natural hazards;
- Agriculture in the context of climate change, particularly in response to changing rainfall patterns and increasingly frequent droughts.
With the Patronage and Participation of:
- Emmanuel Nossin is a Martinican pharmacist, ethnopharmacologist and researcher specialising in medicinal plants and traditional healing knowledge in the Caribbean. Former General Coordinator of the TRAMIL scientific network (2008–2018).
- Harry Archimède is a Guadeloupean researcher specialising in animal science, animal nutrition, and tropical agroecology. Senior Research Scientist and President of the INRAE Antilles-Guyane Research Centre since 2021.
Over the course of two half-day sessions, they will introduce us to the use of medicinal plants and gardens in providing care and supporting recovery in the aftermath of a crisis, as well as explore the role of agroecology in the context of climate change.
