Desalination is the process will remove most part of the dissolved mineral from saltwater (sea water, ground water or salted lake). Several methods are available as filtration (Reverse Osmosis), thermal or chemical.
Jamaican Green Desalination Project tries to design adapted desalination plant powering by Green Energy available in Jamaica (Wind, Solar and Wave). In this second post the two main principles of the desalination are presented. All of those methods require energy to separate mineral (e.g., NaCl, Mg(OH)2, CaSO4, etc) from water (H2O).
